The Grief Center

Family Counselling and Education
The Grief Center
provides assessment and clinical follow-up for families coping with a terminal illness or death related to illness, trauma (accidental, sudden), or violence (suicide, homicide). We also offer grief support groups for kids and teens.

Our Philosophy
Grieving is the normal, healthy response to loss. A family experiencing the terminal illness or death of a member needs a safe, confidential and non-judgemental place to grieve. Adults, children and adolescents express grief differently and need different approaches to grief work.

Our Approach
We help families express their grief through:

  • family discussion
  • creative activities using music, art, sand play, puppets and writing
  • the use of a playroom

At our first meeting, we explain our approach and introduce the model of grief work that we have developed. Please contact Dawn or Yvonne at 514.486.0550.
